The World Justice Forum is a biannual forum produced by the World Justice Project (WJP) built to bring together global leaders to explore and discuss data-backed solutions to rule of law issues across the world.
In 2022 this event was a hybrid conference in The Hague, Netherlands and online.
I managed and executed the brand creation and production process for all Forum print and digital collateral. And I worked on a cross-functional international team to collaborate on effective solutions.
Since there would be many different use cases for the branding materials this DLS needed to be both flexible and durable.
The scope of design for the Forum included: event specific brand guidelines, 40+ pieces of unique signage, 50+ page booklet detailing the events of the forum, social media posts, presentation design, and more.
Below are some highlights from the brand development process.
The initial branding concept was developed from an idea from a colleague: to isolate the geometry of the WJP logo, and use that to link the WJP and Forum visually.
I developed this concept into the link imagery that was a motif throughout the Forum.
The top row (above) are the concept sketches from my colleague, the following rows are my development of that initial idea.
I then created a unique link system for the three themes of the Forum. This system grounded the visual ecosystem of the Forum (bottom row above).
As I began to develop social posts and explore the branded print materials it became clear that the lightness of the initial concept did not have the visual impact needed to iterate across use cases.
From here I pivoted the branding to include more dynamic color integrations, and transformed it from a tricolor link motif to an alternating bicolor link motif with the third color as the background. This allowed for much more playful branding that could easily iterate for various use cases.
The external venue flags (below) were a helpful test case to explore new iterations of the Forum identity. These flags laid the foundation for many other signage products.
Below are various final phase iterations of some print products.
